 Elementary & Pre-Teen Training Sessions

Becoming a GREAT Story Teller of Biblical Truths (Elementary/Pre-Teen Classroom)
This session is highly interactive and engaging as we explore five different bible messages using various teaching techniques. Jesus was a great storyteller who taught biblical truths using parables. Learn practical tips for preparing and presenting Bible stories that will inform and engage the minds and hearts of the children that attend your classrooms. Learn to think and teach in such a way that you constantly ask yourself “What does this teaching say about God?” in order to help your kids see EVERYTHING through God centered lenses!

That Would be My Pleasure (Elementary/Pre-Teen Classroom)
Are we in the business of God Service, Customer Service, or both? When it comes to deciding on a church, people have a huge selection to choose from. How you represent Jesus to the children, parents and visitors that you come in contact with can be the deciding factor that sets your church apart. There is a hotel chain that prides itself on customer service and no matter what the request every employee’s response without fail is… “That would be my pleasure”. Since we are in the “God business”, it should be our pleasure to serve those He brings to our ministries, rather than an interruption. Families should experience that feeling every time they enter our area. This session will give you practical examples of how to go the extra mile and serve to the best of your God given ability.

Mentors vs Monitors (Elementary/Pre-Teen Classroom)
Being a monitor in the classroom is easy since you only have to serve once or twice a month. For an hour or so you make sure the kids are listening, following the rules and nobody gets hurt. You can check off your “serve God box” for the month. Being a mentor, on the other hand, takes hard work, time and sacrifice. Today’s kids are longing to be a part of something bigger than themselves and need mentors who will place value on their input and contribution to the group. They are not looking for perfect mentors but ones who are willing to be authentic and share their faith struggles as well as their victories. This session will give you concrete facts as to why mentoring kids should be your top priority in the classroom and practical ways to mentor inside as well as outside the classroom.

Discipleship & Discipline Make a Dynamic Duo (Elementary/Pre-Teen Classroom)
Gods command to train His children up in the way they should go is the parent’s responsibility. But it’s going to take all of us working together in order to bring about true “heart change”, not mere behavior modification, so they “fit” into their constantly changing environment.
This session will help you to discover the main reasons behind a disruptive class. Learn creative discipline techniques and strategies that provide positive correction and create a nurturing, discipleship driven environment.

Put The Team Back in Teamwork (General Leadership-Elementary & Pre-Teen Classroom)
The bible says: “Oh, how wonderful and pleasing it is, when God’s people all come together as one.” When your team walks together in biblical unity by truly loving and caring for each member, no matter what your differences are, it creates an atmosphere of belonging. We will participate in various teambuilding exercises with biblical applications to help your team become a tight unit! As the saying goes, a family that plays-prays together stays together!

Encouragement for the Call (General Leadership-Elementary & Pre-Teen Classroom)
Navigating through ministry is hard. Fallen, broken sinners are involved. Ourselves included. Sometimes it feels like everyone has an opinion as to how you should be doing ministry. You are pulled in various directions as the tasks in life compete for your attention and finding balance between loving and serving God, your family and His church can be a daily struggle. This session will encourage you and remind you once again that the One who created you, loves you. He knows exactly what you need in order to find balance and be successful in life as well as in ministry.

Leaders of Children & Pre-Teen Ministries

Recruiting, Training, Discipling and Keeping Volunteers

(Leaders of Children & Pre-Teen Ministries)

As the saying goes, “Change is the one thing we can count on”. Sometimes, it seems, the biggest turnover of volunteers happens in children’s ministry. God has entrusted the hearts and souls of His children to you, as well as the volunteers He has placed in the ministry. Jesus didn’t just put the disciples in a room and close the door. He led by example. He served them, nurtured them, coached them and involved them in the “doing” of the ministry. This session will give you proactive strategies to recruit, train and disciple ministry team members that last!

ABC’s of Children’s Ministry

(Leaders of Children & Pre-Teen Ministries – 2 part Training)

So whether or not you applied for the job or your pastor threw you into it, the position you find yourself in was not some random accident or a mistake. God has appointed you! As a personal ministry coach and consultant my goal is to equip you with the tools you need to help you gain confidence and momentum in order to thrive in the ministry God has entrusted to you. This session will help you gain valuable information on how to select curriculum, recruit and develop volunteers, organize schedules and manage flow of service. It will also help you set up check in, attendance, and security procedures, and so much more!

Children’s Ministry Check Up

Through years of consulting and visiting other churches I have learned valuable lessons on the importance of evaluating children’s ministry from a different perspective.  Whether or not its your first day on the job or you are a seasoned veteran this session will challenge you to give your area of responsibility a basic check up and take a fresh new look at the vision, structure and internal operating systems.

Created in Christ to do “Good Works”

(Leaders of Children & Pre-Teen Ministries)

We are not saved by good works, but saved to “do” good works so that God would be glorified as our lives reflect Jesus. God has entrusted the responsibility to those who serve in children’s ministry the role of training up the next generation in the knowledge of who God is through the life-changing message of the Gospel. What you do has eternal ramifications.  God’s work in you and through you makes a difference in the life of a child. This session will encourage you as well as remind you that what you do for God matters to Him. If He has called you to it, He will give you everything you need to be successful at it!

Serving Those Who Serve

(General-Leadership and Leaders of Children & Pre-Teen Ministries)

Volunteers are the life-blood of any ministry. People basically serve for two reasons; relationship and relationships. First, they serve because of their relationship with God and second, they desire relationships with other believers. If people do not feel as though they are building friendships and making real connections in your area, they will quickly find another place to serve. This session offers tangible ways to help your volunteers, (Ministry Team Members), feel loved, appreciated and connected to the body as a whole.

General Leadership Sessions

A Lost Generation

(General-Leadership)

Why is there a generation of people missing from our churches? Studies show that people between the ages of 18-33 are no longer attending church. Shocking statistics show that 75% of teens will walk away from the church, not necessarily God, by the time they are 18. This information should shake us to the very core of who we are as Christians and cause us to evaluate how we minister to the next generation! The strategy for ministering to children and youth in the past is not working. If we keep doing what we have always done because that’s the way we have always done it, bless God, then the results will be catastrophic!  This session will discuss the reasons why we are losing a generation and what can be done to stop the mass exodus.

Hireling vs. Sonship

(General-Leadership)

God cannot promote you to bigger things until you are faithful with that which is another mans. When you disagree with the vision and decisions of those in charge, being humble and submitted to the authority that God places in your life can be the hardest thing to walk out. Being a part of the church staff means God has called you to serve the elders, the pastor, the church community, and more intimately, the people directly involved in your scope of influence. This session will help you understand the difference between hireling vs. Sonship and how to biblically walk it out until God either changes your heart or pulls you out.

A Christian Leader “In The Making”

The American Heritage dictionary definition of the phrase “In the Making” is: the process of being made, formed, and developed. Are leaders perfect? No, it says we are in the “process” of being developed and none of us will be perfect until Jesus comes back and makes us perfect.

(Youth & College age Growing in Leadership- Kayla Wendling)

What does God look for in a leader, and how can we lead like Jesus? This session will give you practical advice on how to develop yourself personally and as a ministry leader no matter how old you are. My prayer is that this session will impact and inspire you to be the leader “in the making” that God has called you to be.

(General Leadership – Karen Wendling)

Great Leaders constantly evaluate all aspects of their leadership. The starting point is to first evaluate you as a leader using the examples Jesus gave us in the scriptures. Are you someone that others believe in? Do they trust that you have their best interest in mind and will lead them in the right direction? The second point would be to evaluate the leaders in your scope of influence. God has called you to develop, encourage, inspire, and challenge those you lead in order to help them fulfill the God given call on their life. The third point would be to evaluate the area of responsibility God has given you to steward. Is God the main thing in all you do and are lives being transformed by the saving knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Whether you’re a seasoned leader or a newbie, this session will give you practical advice on how to develop yourself personally as well as a ministry leader.

On the Edge

(General-Leadership)

What separates spiritual giants from other Christian leaders? It’s a defining line; a Spiritual edge that causes you to not just think outside the box, but also realize that with God there is no box! Living on the edge is a willingness to be separated from the pack to allow God to work in and through you for His good pleasure in order to really change lives, yours as well as those you come in contact with. How can you spot the symptoms of losing your edge and develop practical ways of getting it back. If you are in need of direction and encouragement in what God has called you to do, then this session is for you.

Why is it critical that the church spiritually equip and train those who minister to the next generation?

“The research is pretty compelling in showing that the marks made on a person’s life before the age of 13 are virtually indelible (impossible to remove or alter). The early impressions we make go a long way toward shaping a person’s worldview, relationships, dreams, expectations, and core reality. Many of us treat our opportunities to affect a young person quite cavalierly – to their detriment as well as ours. It takes great discipline to look at each of our interactions with young people as moments of influence, perhaps even as defining moments, and to act with great poise and purpose.” George Barna

Children’s ministry is not babysitting, but an opportunity to age appropriately, minister the life-changing message of the Gospel to the next generation, with every encounter.
